Al Seef Dubai Creek
This charming destination features wind towers and beautifully preserved courtyards. As you walk between these sections, it feels like stepping back four hundred years in time, all while taking in views of the creek that once served as Dubai’s lifeline for trade. Here, you can even hop aboard a romantic dhow boat and take in the fantastic views on a dinner cruise. One side reflects modern life, with restaurants and contemporary buildings, while the other side captures traditional Arabic culture and architecture.
Abra Creek Crossing
For just 1 AED, you can hop aboard a traditional wooden boat called an “abra” and cross Dubai Creek the way locals have done for generations. Riders usually sit on a central wooden bench for the short journey and observe local merchants dropping anchor for trade with wooden dhow boats parked in a colorful array. This ride between Deira and Bur Dubai offers stunning views of both sides of the city and is one of the most authentic and affordable experiences you can have in Dubai.
Gold Souk
As one of the Emirates’ oldest traditional markets, the Gold Souk has over 350 retailers trading tax-free gold of different designs and weights. This popular street is home to rows of shops glistening with gold, diamonds, and precious stones. You will find so many things you’d never imagine could be made of gold, from homewares to full sets of clothing. Prices are negotiable, and the fun of dealing and discovering deals is part of the experience.
Jumeirah Beach Residence
This beachfront promenade is known for its beautiful 1.7km stretch of sand, with great options for sunbathing, water sports and more. While most of the beach is free and open to the public, some parts are used by the hotels within JBR, so you must be a guest. If you prefer to keep your feet dry, there are also vibrant retail options ranging from boutiques, international brands, premium fashion outlets and outdoor pop-ups.
